GETTING THERE

The island has two small airports. Melville Hall Airport (DOM), the main airport, is located in the north east of the island near the town of Marigot. Melville Hall accommodates propeller driven ATR's and Dash Eight aircraft. Canefield Airport (DCF) is a smaller commuter airport near the capital city of Roseau. Canefield only accommodates very small aircrafts, such as 19 seat twin otters or smaller.

From North America

Most travelers from the US to Dominica have traditionally connected on major carriers like American Airlines through San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and continue to Dominica on a domestic carrier such as the Leeward Islands Air transport LIAT or American Eagle.

Visitors should examine other options to fly through another Caribbean island such as Antigua, St Lucia, Saint Martin, or Barbados with final connection to Dominica by LIAT or Winair.  Changing airline schedules have made broadening the search for the best possible flights essential.

From Europe

The best way to access Dominica from Europe is through the UK via Virgin Atlantic or British Airways (BA), or from France via Air France or Air Caraibes. Virgin and BA fly to Antigua (ANU), St. Lucia (UVF) and Barbados (BGI), with LIAT connections to Dominica. Air France and Air Caraibes offer nonstop daily flights to both Guadeloupe (PTP) and Martinique (FDF) with LIAT connections to Dominica. Both Guadeloupe and Martinique have ferry connection (an hour and a half) to Dominica.  Dutch Royal Airline KLM also flies from Amsterdam to St. Martin (SXM) and Condor flies from Frankfurt to Antigua (ANU) and Barbados (BGI) with LIAT connections to Dominica.

From other Caribbean Islands

Caribbean connecting flights are available on LIAT from Antigua, Guadeloupe, Barbados and St Lucia.
There is also a ferry service from Guadeloupe, Martinique (about one and a half hours) and from St Lucia.  Full details of the ferry services can be found at www.express-des-ilies.com
